Dear Members of UNIFEM Singapore,
Hope after the disaster? Women and Children of Aceh
- A Pre-AGM Photograph Exhibition and Talk by UNIFEM Singapore Member Deborah Abraham
Date: Saturday, 22nd April 2006
Time: 11.30pm - 12.30pm (brunch begins at 11pm)
AGM: 1pm-2.30pm
I'd like to extend an invitation to you to attend a pre-AGM talk by one of our very own members and volunteers Deborah Abraham.
Former TV Journalist and freelance presenter, Deborah made a trip to Aceh this February to visit volunteers in Bandar Aceh and find out what opportunities exist for voluntary work and what aid is currently needed in post-tsunami Aceh. She met with volunteers from various local and international organisations there and conducted several art workshops with children living in temporary housing.Deborah will share her experiences and photographs with us.
Her talk reminds us of the small but important things we can do with our own time and skills to plant seeds and nurture fledgling growth in many places. We want to encourage you to become a volunteer too - with UNIFEM Singapore or with another organisation of choice. Your small actions can make a world of a difference.
Do join us for that morning and the AGM following to catch up with other members and hear about the activities and achievements this year. It's also an election year and I'll be stepping down, so do come to say farewell.
With warmest regards,
Melissa
